WIKA

Service for Diaphragm Seal Systems

Repair your non-working diaphragm seal system

WIKA is a leader in diaphragm seals (DS) and diaphragm seal systems (DSS), manufacturing parts and integrated units at our state-of-the-art facilities near the Houston Ship Channel and other locations. Thanks to this global network, we are able to offer fast repairs on DS assemblies, replacing worn diaphragm seals, capillary lines, flanges, lowers, flushing ports, and other parts for customers in the greater Houston area and across the country.

Our patented diaphragm monitoring systems – models DMSU21SA, DMS-FP, DMS34, and DMS27 – are composed of a mounted process transmitter and a mechanical pressure measuring instrument. Very often, the service life of the transmitter is longer than that of the gauge’s wetted parts. Therefore, very rarely will both instruments need to be replaced completely. By repairing or replacing just the non-working pressure gauge, our customers realize significant cost savings.

Benefits of repairing rather than replacing

DS systems protect pressure instruments by ensuring that their sensitive inner mechanisms do not encounter aggressive, crystallizing, viscous media, or extreme temperatures. Our patented diaphragm monitoring systems – models DMSU21SA, DMS-FP, DMS34, and DMS27 – are composed of two integrated instruments: a mounted process transmitter and a mechanical pressure gauge or sensor. Very often, the transmitter’s service life is longer than that of the pressure instrument, diaphragm seal, and other wetted parts.

Repairing diaphragm seal systems is a smart move.

  • Save money. Connected instrumentation are an investment, and prices continue to rise. On average, a DSS repair costs less than half of the price of a new unit.
  • Save time. New pressure transmitters often have a long lead time from order to delivery, whereas a diaphragm seal repair can be completed in as little as 24 hours (expedited request). Standard repairs have a turnaround of 10 business days.
  • Sustainability. When you get rid of a non-functioning DS system, you might be throwing away components that can be repaired or reused. Keep working instruments out of the waste stream by replacing just the worn parts.

Some customers opt for preventive maintenance, exchanging used diaphragm seals for new ones during planned shutdowns. This proactive measure saves time and avoids the possibility of a DS failure when the plant is in operation. We can also add DS Repair Services to a comprehensive maintenance contract for your pressure and temperature needs. WIKA services all types of diaphragm seal systems, our own as well as those made by other reputable manufacturers. Every repair includes a process transmitter check, new calibration, and a material certificate.

Drop boxes for your diaphragm seal unit

When a unit stops working at night or on the weekend, there’s no need to wait for the next business day to send it in for repairs. Our Houston facility has a convenient drop box for after-hours, no-contact drop-offs. And for plants in the Houston area, we can custom-tailor a drop-box/pickup solution at your location, offering even greater convenience.
