Precise air flow sensors and air flow meters from WIKA

Air flow sensors and volume flow meters are suitable for measuring and controlling volume flows in ventilation and air conditioning systems. Volume flow sensors measure the total pressure, the static pressure of the air flow and the average air velocity. Even very low air velocities of up to 1.0 m/s can be measured by a special shape of the sensor. In combination with the PID controller type A2G-100 you can set up a very efficient and easily adjustable volume flow control of the ventilation or air conditioning system. With the air flow sensor type A2G-25, the volume flow rate is calculated using the fan constant (K-factor). All K-factors of common manufacturers are already programmed in the menu of the measuring device so that an input can be made without any problems.

What are the fields of application for air flow sensors and air flow meters?

In refineries, flow nozzles are used, for example, to measure the volume flow of steam flows that, under high pressure, escape into the atmosphere. For the monitoring of coolant circuits, calorimetric flow switches with integrated LED displays are suitable.

The measurement of volume flows in ventilation pipes in air-conditioning technology is carried out by compact air flow meters with electrical output signals. The exact control of the room air supply is used for energy-efficient air conditioning in accordance with applicable EU standards.

How does an air flow sensor work?

For the monitoring of air flows in ventilation and air-conditioning systems, flow sensors are suitable for volume flow calculation based on the measured differential pressure and the fan constant (K factor) of the connected radial fans. The exact measurement of the smallest differential pressures is crucial for the cost-effective and technical monitoring of room air systems. Here, PI controllers and pitot tubes are also used for this application.

Which volume flows can be measured with WIKA air flow meters?

The air flow meter, model A2G-25, measures air flows up to 200,000 m3/h. Also differential pressures up to 7,000 Pa can be measured. This air flow meter is ideal for measuring air flows in ventilation pipes and ducts in conjunction with the model A2G-FM measuring probe.
