Sulphur hexafluoride (SF6), the strongest known greenhouse gas with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of approx. 25,000 and a long life in the atmosphere, has become a focus of climate protection efforts, due to the Kyoto Protocol amongst others. Although SF6 has already been successfully replaced in many areas of application, it will continue to be used with energy transmission in power grids for an indefinite time due to its excellent extinguishing and insulating properties and the long service life of systems.

In order to fight climate change, countries worldwide have introduced strict regulations in order to reduce SF6 emissions and to fully document them. WIKA supports these efforts with an extensive portfolio for the reduction of SF6 emissions and for the monitoring of SF6 systems in order to ensure that these regulations can be reliably adhered to.
