Density monitors such as the GDM-RC-100 from WIKA are the most frequently used measuring instrument for monitoring the filling quantities in the gas compartments of switchgear. In the EU, they are even prescribed as a “leakage detection system” from a filling volume of 22 kilograms SF6. These reliable measuring instruments alert network operators as soon as the gas volume has fallen by around five percent.
The innovative GDHT-20 transmitter from WIKA measures both gas density and humidity in a single instrument. With its high-precision sensor technology and the advanced evaluation algorithms of WEgrid Asset Protection, the GDHT-20 enables the network operators to determine more accurate leakage rates and to provide reliable forecasts for leakage development. In this way, problems can be detected early and countermeasures taken in order to prevent emissions effectively.
The GDI-100-D precision digital density indicator from WIKA is the ideal solution for the temporary monitoring of SF6 gas filled switchgear, especially after maintenance work or new installations. These user-friendly instruments connect easily via the filling port and feature a data logger that continuously records density readings over the specified period of time. Thanks to Bluetooth technology, this data can be easily read out later. Thus users can evaluate the effectiveness of emission reduction measures at an early stage and, if necessary, make timely adjustments in order to achieve optimal results.
With the GIR-10 WIKA offers a powerful instrument for the detection of possible leaks, based on NDIR technology (Non-Dispersive Infrared) and has been specifically adjusted for SF6. This highly sensitive instrument can reliably locate even small leaks - even under challenging outdoor conditions. With the GIR-10, the user can identify potential problems early and instigate suitable countermeasures in order to minimise environmental impacts through SF6 emissions.
Due to the strong climatic impact, responsible and sustainable handling of SF6 gas is an important topic worldwide, on which there is a need for action to eliminate emissions. EU regulation (EU) 517/2014 on fluorinated greenhouse gases (generally known as the “F-gas regulation”) stipulates training measures for personnel who carry out work in connection with SF6 gas. As a recognised testing and certification body, WIKA offers competence training with completion testing, so personnel can be certified across all of Europe. The testing is carried out in accordance with the (EU) 517/2014, (EU) 2015/2066 European regulations as well as the chemicals climate protection regulation. In the training, WIKA will inform you about the applicable regulations coupled with practical knowledge for the selection and operation of the right equipment. The theoretical content is complemented by demonstrations and practical exercises.
