Hydrogen refuelling stations are the prerequisite to make mobility based on hydrogen possible. A hydrogen refuelling station typically consists of:
- Hydrogen supply with low-pressure storage in the range up to 250 bar, either in gaseous or liquid form
- Compression range with medium and high-pressure storage up to 900 bar
- Cooling unit, as the hydrogen must be cooled down to -40 °C before it is filled into the vehicle
- Hydrogen dispenser
At several points during the refuelling process, temperature and pressure have to be monitored. In addition, an approval for explosion protection is required.
