Pressure transmitter

As a rule, the term process transmitter is used to describe a pressure measuring instrument with the features mentioned above. Electronic pressure measuring instruments without turndown, digital pressure indication or bar graph and without control keys, on the other hand, are in general considered as pressure sensors or pressure transmitters. If you are interested in pressure sensors/pressure transmitters, extensive information can be found on the info page pressure sensor.

Process transmitters from WIKA are flexible in operation and are suitable for measurement tasks in the widest variety of application areas. They detect the level in vessels, determine the flow rate in pipes and monitor pumps, to name but a few examples.

Universal process transmitter

The model UPT-20 (with pressure port) / model UPT-21 (with flush diaphragm) process transmitter is suitable for many industries. Apart from machine building and plant construction, it is used in the process industry with its intrinsically safe Ex ia version. Also, the demands of the hygienic, pharmaceutical and food industries are fulfilled using flush process connections. The process transmitter can be delivered with an analogue output signal and HART® protocol (version 7).

The measured value is easy to read from the process transmitter due to its rotatable case (rotatable even after mounting in the process) and the high-contrast and especially large display, with its 45° incline. The electrical installation at the instrument is achieved without the need for any additional tools. The plastic surface is fully conductive and thus it is particularly suited for Ex applications. With IP66 the instrument is protected against dust and liquids, and with IP67 against short-term immersion.

Industrial process transmitter

The model IPT-20 (with pressure port) / model IPT-21 (with flush diaphragm) process transmitter is available in seven case variants. For materials, plastic, aluminium, and stainless steel are used.

The process transmitter is available with all of the output signals prevalent in the process industries: Analogue signal, HART® signal, FOUNDATION™ Fieldbus, PROFIBUS® PA. In addition, the process transmitter can be delivered with a choice of piezo, thin-film or ceramic sensor. The large number of process connections and the extensive possibilities offered by the metallic measuring cell enable use in all industries.

Differential pressure transmitter

The model DPT-20 is used in the measurement of differential pressures. Typical applications are level and flow measurements and also filter and pump monitoring.

For level measurement, the DPT-20 is used for monitoring a closed vessel and registers the hydrostatic filling pressure. If the vessel shape is stored as a pressure-volume curve, it can calculate the volume of any tank form and represent this directly on the display. Transmission to a connected process control system is also possible.

If the DPT-20 is combined with a primary flow element, such as restriction orifice or a Venturi tube, it can measure the flow within pipelines. You will also find primary flow elements in the extensive WIKA portfolio.

FAQ
FAQ

Why does one have filled pressure gauges?

The filling fluid serves as damping for the moving parts within the case. As a result, damage caused by vibration and increased wear on the moving parts can be prevented.

Why is there some white foaming inside the case of liquid-filled pressure gauges?

With liquid-filled pressure gauges, white foam can occasionally form inside the case. This is the well-known phenomenon of an electrochemical reaction between aluminium components (e.g. pointers, dial) and the case filling (mainly with glycerine-wa ...
