Product consultancy

Are you unsure which product best meets your individual requirements or do you have questions to do with the handling of gases, service equipment or other topics? No problem - we offer years of experience in the area of SF6/alternative gases and we would be happy to handle your concerns. You are welcome to book a time for a preliminary clarification by phone, online conference or e-mail.

Below, we'll give you a short overview of the most frequently asked topics:

Alternative gases and future trends in the industry

For almost ten years the WEgrid department at WIKA has been active in the field of SF6 alternative gases and enjoys the confidence of all well-known manufacturers of gas-filled electrical plants worldwide. You can also benefit from these consulting services. We give you an external view of various alternative gases and gas mixtures. Here's what we will discuss with you:

  • whether and how a new alternative gas can be used in your equipment (e.g. taking into account ambient conditions, material compatibility, analysis and considerations of possible decomposition products in operation)
  • how you should handle the gases in the development area (pressure, temperature, liquefaction point)
  • what equipment you need for this (production of gas mixtures in accordance with various standards, e.g. DIN EN ISO 6142-1).

Gas density monitoring, digitalisation

Reliability, quality and a secure data connection are the three core aspects in gas density monitoring. Technological advances are already opening up the possibility for our customers to monitor their gas-filled plants using digitalisation solutions. This guarantees 24/7 real-time monitoring via a telecommunication unit, which can detect even the smallest changes in condition due to highest accuracy classes. We would be pleased to advise you in these areas with specific expertise from our development departments in order to offer you a suitable and economically viable solution. Our range of services includes solutions from conventional mechanical gas density monitoring, hybrid products through to complete digitalisation solutions.

Digitalisation is one of the megatrends of the last decade. A number of system solutions are available on the market, but these have not always been designed by specialists in the field of gas density sensor technology. We'd like to advise you if you decide on one of these solutions and therefore offer you an external evaluation of gas density monitoring systems, so that you can fully exploit the cost-optimisation potential predicted for you.

Don't forget that your existing system can also be optimised, using suitable algorithms, to compensate for seasonal changes in ambient conditions (summer time, winter time, etc.) and to provide reliable information on the development of gas density in your plants.

Gas analysis, gas dehydration and service equipment

Service equipment serves to combat the natural ageing of a gas-filled electrical plant and helps you to determine the current condition of the plant in detail. However, they can also be used to optimise performance, e.g. by successive drying of the plant during operation. We would be pleased to inform and advise you about the possibilities available to you in the area of service equipment. Together with you, we also look into the cost-efficiency of the maintenance of service equipment and advise you about the procurement models for this equipment. Following this consulting service, you are also welcome to have a look into the portfolio of the WIKA Group or, alternatively, to arrange an on-site product demonstration.

Hazard assessments and process audits in handling SF6 gas or alternative gases (EHS)

Every development or production facility and every process is different, but they all have the following in common - the safety of people in the process must be guaranteed. In order to be able to optimise the process in accordance with environmental, health and safety aspects, you are welcome to contact us. The following options are available to you:

  • On-site hazard assessments with subsequent protocol and documentation of the hazardous situation
  • Process audits in handling SF6 gas or alternative gases in accordance with current standards and work guidelines as well as assessment of the process in accordance with EHS guidelines.
